Film Friday - A Berry Summer Edition

I am cracking up over my title...can you guess what I'm going to be posting about?!

This summer feels like the best summer yet.  The kids are at such a fun age and it is beginning to be really fun having special outings with them!  If you asked me to name five things that I love about summer, then I would answer: cold brew, strawberries, peaches, watermelon, and pool.  We are slightly too early for peaches but this post contains all the rest.  We are loving our summer so far - strawberry picking, going to petting zoo birthday parties, and the pool.  Enjoy the photos :)

A mix of Fuji400H + 1 and Portra400. All developed by the FIND lab.

Film Friday

Somehow we skipped Spring and marched right into Summer.  Not complaining though! I will take sunny and hot days over 20+ days of rain ANY day.  Here's another round up of film photographs from our daily lives. Happy Friday!!!

My superhero is too fast for my camera.

Oh, don't mind the messy hair, stickers on my husband's shirt, Evie making the same dorky face as I am, and our runaway baby boy. It's a family portrait because we are all in the frame, ok?

A small birthday gathering on instant film!

I love instant film.  My sister gifted me the mini instax when E was born, so I've been using that a lot since. I recently purchased more instax wide film my for instax 220 and I've been wondering why I wasn't shooting more of that! It is so nice to have larger photos.

M's first birthday party was rescheduled due to rain and half the household being under the weather, but we still had a really nice and intimate celebration with the immediate family, his nonnie and his paw paw, my sister, and our favorite aunt emma who brought a delicious cake.  Sadly, I forgot to take a shot of our grilled lobster, boo!

I highly recommend getting an instant camera. They also make a ton of super adorable albums for instant film.  My favorite place is www.mochithings.com (I am not affiliated with them!). There is something so great about having these tangible little photos. E loves to help me wave them around and do the Polaroid dance!

Shake it like a polaroid picture :)

Coen is one!!!

I came to photograph the W family in celebration of their littlest son's upcoming first birthday. {Happy birthday, C!!} As expected, these two little boys kept me moving the session but as one can also imagine, it was just a whole lot of fun photographing these two boys with gorgeous gorgeous eyes (uh, I also really want their eye lashes), a gentle dog, a cool cat, and two amazingly nice parents. Note: I will never get tired of baby squish and rolls.

Dear W family - thank you so much for having me document your family and capture just a moment in time of you guys' life.  :)

For those of you considering a future family session, think about having an in-home lifestyle session!  It is relaxing...there is no forced cheesing at the camera, there is no chasing after your active kids, and best part of all, you end up with photographs that takes you back to a regular day at home with your babies.  How awesome it would be to flip through these together 30 years from now and be reminded of what your childhood home looked like, the way your mom beamed at you adoringly, and the way your brother body-slammed/hugged you.

Without further ado, here are some of my favorite photos from that day!

I'm back and a sneak peak of a recent session! | Family portrait photographer in Takoma Park, DC

I'm back!!! It took me a long time because I went back and forth with whether or not I should continue using this blog for my work. This blog and I go way back and I just don't have the heart to start anew. I started the blog Leafygreens Photography a long time ago as a hobby because I needed a place to share my photos...I keep thinking that I should start a new blog but I keep coming back here.

I decided to just post my new work here from now on as it is a big part of my life :)

Anyhow.  Just last week, I got to photograph family portraits for my first nursing mama photography project's participant. It was so great to see her again and meet the rest of her family this time, especially her snuggly new baby girl!

Here's a quick sneak peak! The rest will come after I return from LA.
